Charlie Russell

Charlie Russell is a successful producer, mixer and songwriter. Somewhat of a musical polymath, he has had international hit records with a diverse array of talent across multiple genres. From chart topping pop productions with Take That, soulful party records for Jamiroqaui and regularly being recognised with gongs at the Kerrang/ Metal awards for bands such as Wargasm and Vukovi, Charlie is an extremely versatile and forward thinking talent.

Emerging from a background rooted in music experimentation and collaboration, Charlie had a very auspicious start to his career, training under the extraordinary guidance of Trevor Horn at the legendary Sarm Studios from 2002. He engineered and assisted Trevor on hugely successful records for artists such at Madonna, George Michael and Ian Brown. A highlight from this era was Charlie’s deep involvement on the Seal LP V, programming across the record.

After many successful years at Sarm, Charlie moved into Dean St Studios where he has had Studio 5 on a long-term lease. Here Charlie quickly developed a style that balances technical precision with raw, organic energy. His work often blends rich textures, layered instrumentation, and modern sonic aesthetics, resulting in records that feel both polished and authentic. Whether working on stripped-back acoustic tracks or expansive, genre-blurring productions, he brings a consistent sense of clarity and intention to every project.

With credits too numerous to mention, highlights of the last decade include producing and mixing for Alt-J, OK Go, Dead!, The Duke Spirit, Liam Gallagher, James Arthur, Passenger, Rhys Lewis, Black Sabbath, Kasabian, Rayland Baxter and Jake Bugg.

Charlie has travelled the globe with his music, recording in many major studios around the world including Abbey Road, British Grove and Sarm Hook End (UK) Electric Lady and Quad (NY) Omni, Blackbird and Ocean Way (Nashville), honing his engineering and mix skills.

Over the last five years, Charlie has established himself as a leading production light in the alternative rock scene. He has cowritten, produced and mixed albums for Wargasm (Republic), was recognised for his input on the Vukovi LP ‘Nula’ at the 2023 Heavy Music Awards, co-written, produced and mixed ALT BLK ERA’s Rave Immortal album which propelled the girls to be awarded Best Alternative Act at the 2025 MOBO Music Awards.

Other highlights in this space include producing and mixing multiple tracks for DeathbyRomy, Ho99o9, Dust Coda (No.1 UK Rock Album), Harpy, Bambie Thug, and Cody Frost.

In 2025 and beyond, Charlie continues to works across a hugely diverse client base. He is currently producing multiple tracks for Take That’s forthcoming album to support the Circus tour, produced tracks for London noiseniks SNAYX’s debut LP for Nettwerk and cowriting and producing the new Wargasm LP recently signed to Hopeless Record in LA.

Charlie is known for his collaborative approach, fostering a studio environment where artists feel supported to take creative risks. This ability to connect and communicate has made him a trusted partner for both emerging talent and established acts.
